Biopsy Results!

Holly and Mark Wedding (web size)-545

Hi friends!  For those of you who saw my last post, you know we’ve been waiting for Friday’s biopsy results from my right breast.  (The original tumor/active cancer we have been treating is in my left breast- but recently during an MRI the doctors were surprised to find a “suspicious” mass in my right breast.)  Long story short, because the biopsy was on Friday and it was a holiday weekend, we just received the results late yesterday afternoon.  We spent a LOT of time over the long weekend praying that if it’s in God’s plan for me, that we would get good news regarding the new mass in the right breast. Mark and I are relieved to let you know the mass they found in the right breast is benign (aka- NOT CANCER).  Wow, talk about an answered prayer.  God is so good!

After I received the news from my doctor (and finished crying happy tears in the grocery store parking lot), I started thinking about “answered prayers”.  To be frank, I wanted to know more about what the bible says about asking for specific outcomes and “answered prayers”.  I mean, clearly I can’t start praying for ridiculous things……like a herd of baby alpaca to show up on my doorstep tomorrow…. as fun as that would be. (To my friends: Mark would lose his mind, so please- do not actually send a herd of alpaca to our house).  But I digress.  Back to prayer- not surprisingly, there are a lot of verses about answered prayers.  The two that stood out to me were: Matthew 7:7- “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”  I also liked 1st John 5:14-15: “This is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.”

Since May 8, 2018 I’ve asked God to please heal me.  I’ve asked to please make this cancer go away if that is in God’s plan for me.  Every single day Mark and I pray for my doctors, for a cure, and for everyone who is supporting us along the way.  In the last few months I’ve also been praying that God will use my story to reach people, to help people in some way.  When I’m having a hard time, it gives me peace to know that through the heartbreak of this diagnosis, good things are coming from my story.  Once I started looking at things from that perspective….I started seeing little blessings all around me.  I’ve seen the very best in people and I feel lucky that I get to experience that.

If you’re still reading, thank you for your support and for your prayers, I know God is listening 🙂

    1. Holly, because of your openness throughout this journey, I’ve visited with my doctor to learn more about my genetic history due to my mother’s breast cancer past. It’s interesting, because it wasn’t an action promted by my family history, but by my generational connection, someone who I could relate to ….You. I’ve spread your message in person, eyeball to eyeball with other women our age in hopes that it helps others, in what ever way possible. Thank you for showing this enormous amount of strength with the world. Your impact is unparalleled, and that’s an understatement.

  1. That is wonderful news! As for the message, a herd of alpaca is exactly what this calls for but I needed those verses today in a serious way. I’m not standing in your shoes or even similar shoes but you are reaching people, and I needed to hear what you have to say today. ❤

  2. First of all, I thank God for answered prayer. God uses people to accomplish his will. I thank God each day for all the blessings Holly and Mark are experiencing through this difficult journey. May God bless you all for your support whether through prayer, friendship, meals, errands, visits, going to Doctors appointments, biopsys, cool cap duty, and I could go on and on. I am so amazed by your generosity. You and God have shown up in amazing ways. Much love, the Momma.
